Gib Hietpas began his public accounting career in 1972 in Monroe, Michigan, at a CPA firm specializing in governmental and non-profit auditing and the preparation of income tax returns. After working for the firm for four years, and receiving his certified public accountant status, he returned to his home state of Wisconsin, and was hired as the first Finance Director for Fond du Lac County. In this position, he was responsible for coordinating and consolidating the accounting affairs of the county.

Gib originally began the public accounting business of G M Hietpas CPA, LLC in 1979. He opened his first office in the basement of his home, while his wife, Mary, helped process the clients’ work on the newly purchased computer system.

In 1985, Gib, purchased the Esther Hartwig accounting business in Mayville, Wisconsin, and moved the business location to 42 S. Main Street. Along with the expansion of the business, accounting and support staff joined the firm.

The Fond du Lac client base continued to grow, and a second office was opened in 1993 at 86 S. Macy Street, Fond du Lac, WI, where additional staff was also added.

In 1997, the Mayville office was moved to the present address at 14 N. Main Street, Mayville, WI.

Two staff members work in each location. G M Hietpas CPA, LLC continues to specialize in preparing income tax returns, preparation of business financial statements, and the auditing of governmental and non-profit agencies. The firm continues to grow because of the personal services that are provided for the clients.
